For Downham

Witty Kiddies Preschool Downham is located at St Barnabas Church Hall, 1 Churchdown/Downham Way, Bromley, BR1 5PS. We have an ample parking space for your convenience, various bus routes with a bus stop right opposite our setting and the train station (Grove park station) very close by. We are also surrounded by local primary and secondary schools.

Our setting is situated in this very large hall with high ceilings, allowing a flood of light to come through it. This large hall has given us amber space to work with, allowing us to create a warm, child-friendly and well-resourced setting for the children to explore through play.

We also have a sizeable garden when the children can enjoy some outside space with resources that will enhance their learning and curiosity, we also have an area for planting. Our resources are age appropriate as well.

At Witty Kiddies PreSchool, meal times are viewed as happy, social occasions for both children and staff. Staff use meal and snack times to help children develop independence through making choices, serving food, drinks and feeding themselves.

We aim to promote positive attitudes towards healthy eating through play opportunities, planned activities and games. Our menus are regularly reviewed to ensure that children receive a nutritionally balanced and diverse range of meal.

The snack menu are planned to encourage good eating habits and an awareness of where food comes from. We supply afternoon tea which consists of sandwiches, croissants, cheese on toast etc. We also provide heathy snacks and drinks throughout the session. We have a 2 week rotating menu which offers a wide range of snacks, children bring in their own lunch packs if staying longer session.

We have a good size garden with a selection of outdoor toys suitable for all ages which consists of push along, bats, balls, hoops, bikes and as well as sand and water play available. We operate a free flow system so children have regular access to the garden throughout the day. We use the garden all year round in all weathers, we provide the children with rain suits and winter and summer hats.

We operate a key person system in the preschool, Your child will be allocated a member of staff who will be responsible for them on daily basis, this will involve carrying out activities with them on a daily basis, making observations on your child and generally looking after your child's well being. Key persons will be reviewed on a regular basis.

We work as closely as possible with parents/carers to make sure that we achieve the best possible care and education for your child. We use an online observation and development tracking systems which parents can access and make comments whenever they wish. We also run several activities which includes parents/carers fun evenings. We regularly review our practice and send out questionnaires quarterly to ensure that we are providing a good service. We also welcome parents comments all year round about the service we provide and we look carefully at any suggestions on how we can improve our service. We have a comments and suggestions box in the entrance hall where parents are free to post comments and suggestions.
